Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya (MMYVV) is the university of the pure and applied knowledge of Veda which has been brought to light by His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Established in 1995 by a unanimous Act of the Legislative Assembly of Madhya Pradesh and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), MMYVV has been founded to introduce enlightenment on all levels of education and to create Sattwa in collective consciousness. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya has two campuses in the Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh, and forty-four distance education centres. Five hundred students are enrolled in courses from Parichaya to Vidya Varadhi levels in Vedic disciplines, and diploma and degree courses in management and vocational education. The language of instruction is the Mother Tongue of the students. This allows for greater and deeper assimilation of knowledge. At Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya all students practice Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation to experience Samadhi, the state of self-referral consciousness, Transcendental Consciousness. This experience has been shown, by over 600 scientific research studies in over 200 universities in 30 countries, to mobilise the hidden reserves of brain potential; to increase intelligence and creativity; to improve academic performance; to increase moral reasoning; to increase field independence; and to develop the overall cognitive state of the student—self-actualisation, or enlightenment.
